COMMANDERS CORNER
COMMANDERS ARTICLE FOR JUNE 2011
You didn’t think I would get to this
point, but this is my last article for the bulletin for my term of
office. Wes Sizemore will take over on the 23 rd
of June as the new Post Commander. We all wish him well. What have we
done during the past 2 years? 1. Carpeted the upper floor of the
building. 2. Retiled the front of the bar. 3. Re-paired the back service
bar so it is useable again. 4. Pur-chased a snow plow for the property.
5. Replaced the lawnmowers and edger’s. 6. Replaced the freezer in the
kitchen. 7. Repaired the dishwasher in the front bar. 8. Had a new
coffee pot installed. 9. Installed camera sys-tem for security. 10.
Repaired the bathrooms downstairs (twice). 11. Fixed the leaks in the
plumbing. And the list goes on and on. I really would like to thank the
Men’s Auxiliary for all of their help with the repairs. You are a
benefit to the organization. To the comrades and sisters that assisted
in our efforts, thank you so very much. We are a team and 3 different
functions make up that team. The comrades, the sisters, and the brothers
make up that team. Another team is made up of the staff of the can-teen.
From the cooks to the janitors, to the waiters to the bartenders, you
have done a great job for the post. I trust you will continue. I will
continue as quartermaster next year and my function will be to train and
assist the new commander and his corps of officers. Thanks for your
assistance for the past 2 years and thanks Jim for step-ping up and
doing the bulletin again. Despite all of our flaws as humans, all the
errors we make, we are still the biggest and best VFW in Eastern
Washington. Be proud of your post it is a great one.

LADIES AUXILIARY
Ladies, I hope I made the bulletin with this one. Been crazy busy
with the end of the year reports, nominations and elections and just my
busy life in general. I have to say that I have totally enjoyed this
last couple of years as your President. Thank you for trusting in me and
guiding me. Lord, knows I have needed it and appreciated and loved all
you for it. The things I have learned about "serving our veterans" has
been wonderful and I have Post, Aux and the friends that I have made to
thank. My heart for this next year is to try to plan a military
standdown in Spokane next year. I have been talking about it for a
couple of years now and I have lots of people to help me. Believe me
when I say that I will be using any and all help on this. It is my
understanding that there hasn't been one here for years. I think it's
time and we will see what happens. I can't necessarily think of anything
big happening any-time soon around our home post, so I will leave you
with you list of new officers for 2011-2012. President ~ Cindy Burkey
Sr. Vice ~ Candy Mann Jr. Vice ~ Cindy Chavez Treasurer ~ Laurie Davis
Chaplain ~ Linda Worthington Conductress ~ Judy Fishbaugh Guard ~ Denise
Buie Congradulations to all of you and I wish you the best year!!!
Loyally yours, Michelle Madonna 230-2958

Men’s Auxiliary Notes.
Comrades and Sisters,
Congrats again to all incoming Auxiliary &
Post officers for the ensuing year. Thanks to our members for stepping
up and keeping the Men's Auxiliary strong!! Summers coming and it can be
a busy time. We will again be doing our annual car washes this summer.
Dates haven't been finalized but we will post flyers in the club when we
do. We will be having other functions & dinners at the Post throughout
the year too so please keep an eye out for these events also. This will
be my last newsletter. Thanks to all who supported Roger Rosin and
myself this year. Your support was greatly appreciated .
Please continue to support the Post,
Auxiliaries and Canteen. "HAVE A SAFE SUMMER!!!!
Yours in Comradeship,

VFW
Magazine Booklets
and Reprints
The VFW publications staff writes and produces more than just the
monthly magazine. The bimonthly Checkpoint newsletter and
occasional books-- including the most recent, Hitting the Military
History Trail: VFW's Travel Guide to Battlefields, Museums & His-toric
Sites--are part of the additional ma-terials published. In addition,
VFW com-memorates veterans through booklets on topics such as women vets
and Reserve forces. These booklets are available for download at
www.vfw.org. Feel free to save, e-mail or print these documents to share
with fellow veterans. Many VFW members have found these publications
useful in membership recruiting as well.
